During the last year you may have been in contact with young people who have been using the drug Xanax.  Only available by private prescription in the UK its prescribed use is to relieve anxiety, however young people are now buying what they think is Xanax to self medicate (£10 for 3 tablets) from dealers who are no doubt obtaining them through the internet. 

Young people from Wrexham have reported a wide range of disturbing effects from using this drug which included psychotic episodes, becoming violent and aggressive and also requiring hospital treatment.  Young people have also passed out after using this substance, a substance which is made to make the most profit for dealers and not the wellbeing of those people using it.

All drugs that are in powder or tablet form have been “bashed” meaning unknown substances have been added to what is supposed to be the main drug. This is very big unknown which leaves young people extremely vulnerable.
